Rearing A New Generation of Barbies (and a lil more)

Hey Barbies!
So honey dips, its time for the weekly update. This week we salute the future Barbie's to come. It is so important to take the time from the extravaganzas we have going on to support our young sisters. We must remember that we also struggled with self esteem, the loss of first loves, and even pimples. We have to give these experiences some credit for helping to mold us into the fabulous Barbies that we are. It is our duty to share wisdom and love with the Barbie Babes that are growing in the spotlight.  I always feel blessed when I can turn around and teach what I have learned. Remember Barbies, nothing that you do matters unless you share it. So Give back! This weekend, that's exactly what I did.
I took my own burgeoning Barbie to have her sweet sixteen at THE BACK ROOM, a small but fabulous spa in the back of the Carol's Daughter  flagship store (a  fabulous place to find Barbie worthy products) on 125th st. in Harlem. Barbie's, this place is absolutely fabulous! The colors are warm, rich and inviting. The chairs are lush and fabulous, the attendants are wonderfully friendly, the supervisor is lovely to do business with, and to top it all off the services are unique and luxurious. Treatments like "lemon aide experience", "tropical paradise", and "love your hands," smell amazing and use natural herbs and oils to nurture and treat the nails. I strongly recommend this to all Barbies as a once a month treat, not only will it have your natural nails looking gorgeous, its a good opportunity to step up your "swank" (a.k.a. fabulousness) game up from the run of the mill mani and pedi at the local nail salon. All of the products they use are available in the store along with a myriad of amazing and all natural hair and skin products that will leave you feeling like a golden goddess. Along with the spa day, I got the most delicious miniature cupcakes for the event from Baked By Melissa. These cupcakes are tiny but pack an out of this world kind of punch! They range in flavors from peanut butter and jelly to cookie dough, and they're so minature you won't even feel guilty for having two, maybe even three! Now on to other things.
This week Ms. Erica and I traveled to the swanky Park Slope area of Brooklyn in quest of what we thought was a lovely Barbie worthy hangout called the Tea Lounge. However, we found something quite different. Now Barbies, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this kind of place, the inside a thrift store kind of motif complete with ripped old sofas and distressed old tables can be wonderful for Erykah Badu earthy hipster kind of Barbie. However, regardless of your brand of Barbie, whether your a dont leave your house without make up kind of girl, or a wrap skirt and unk necklace wearing kind of diva, this is not a place to travel to. The Tea Lounge is strictly a neighborhood hangout, there is live jazz music, but that's just to set the mood. So, because myself and Ms. erica are the beat your mug (do your make up) and fill your bag with M.A.C. products kind of girls, we left the Tea Lounge somewhat disappointed and hungry until we found La Taq!
This amazing restaurant and take out joint has some of the best Mexican food for Barbie Budget worthy prices. However, I must issue an important warning for Barbies and Fellas, THIS IS NOT A FIRST DATE PLACE! La Taq is the kind of place you go with your girlfriends to loosen your belt buckle, or with a fella that you are in a comfortable established relationship with. Heres why, the food is so good that you have no choice but to DIG IN! I mean dig in so deep that you have guacamole on your chin! Not only did me and Ms. Erica eat our full of delicious burittos, the total bill for the night came up to 15 dollars! Now if that isnt Barbie on a Budget maybe I need a new definition!
Well my honey dip Barbies, thats all I'm working with for this week. Come back next week for more Barbie on a Budget. In the meanwhile, try out the places and brands I've mentioned and go have your own adventures!
